PackMint Packaging

Branding Guidelines for PackMint.

orb

Introduction

PackMint Packaging came to PCG with hopes of building a timeless, and strong brand identity for their new business. They wanted a full branding suite, primary logomarks, along with secondary/alternate logomarks. They also stressed the importance of a brand guide, so they can keep a seamless visual identity along multiple mediums for the company.

How PCG approached this project:

  1. Strategy
We wanted to build an identity that emboldened the name PackMint. Our first though was of course, a mint leaf. Not just a basic mint leaf though, we wanted a strong icon and type combination.

  2. Drafting/Conceptualizing
A mint leaf is a pretty basic shape at first glance, so we thought, how can we make a mint leaf more interesting, while keeping the shape recognizable? This is where the use of positive/negative space came into play. Using space like this can allow you to create a more interesting logo, but with minimalistic vibes.

  3. Final Logo Drafting
For this project, we created a strong primary logo, along with a secondary logo, and alternate logos. The primary can be used as the main point of brand identity, secondary can be used for times the postive/negative space isn't a good option. And the alternate logomarks work almost like favicons, easy icons to use for things such as profile pics, and etc.

  4. Building the Brand Guide
The main goal for a brand guide is to give the company a clear road map on how their branding works, and how to use it. This way any new employee, or any creative can easily have a guide on how to properly use PackMint's branding. This is why we provide color palettes, primary font combinations, mock-ups, and more. They have a full picture on what the branding is and how it works.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion this project was extremely rewarding. Being able to create a beautiful brand guide and a strong brand identity for this emerging company was a fun project. Packaging companies tend to stick to basics such as boxes, forklifts, etc. for their icons/logos. Building an identity in a saturated industry is always difficult. PackMint was great to work with and were very happy with their final product!
